Study in the Netherlands

Studying in the Netherlands is very popular. Dutch universities perform well. Almost all research universities in the Netherlands score within the top 100 worldwide.

Why is Holland so interesting for international students?

  • Wide Range of English Programmes
  • Value for money
  • Teaching Style
  • Big international community
  • Great Career opportunities

English Programmes

The Netherlands is one of Europe’s most internationally oriented countries. The Dutch love to explore and are found all over the globe with their businesses. The Dutch government is focussing on the internationalization of Dutch education. Not only will the children from a young age be taught English, but the Higher Education institutes will attract students and teachers from around the world to create an international environment. By now, almost half of all Bachelor courses in research Universities are entirely taught in English, and for the Master courses, the majority are in English.

Value for money

Studying in the Netherlands has become increasingly popular among international students, and for good reasons: they have high-quality courses in English for a very competitive rate.

The annual fee for EU/EEA students is 2314 euro for the academic year 23-24. For Non-Eu students, the prices for most bachelor courses vary between 6,000 – 15,000 euro, and for masters, 8,000-20,000 euro per year.

Way of teaching

The teaching style in the Netherlands can be described as interactive and student-centered, providing students with the attention and freedom they need to develop their own opinions and creativity in applying their newly acquired knowledge.

International Community

International students are a growing population in student cities. More and more student clubs are being formed where international students find each other and mingle with Dutch students. The universities often work with small study groups, where students work together intensively. At this moment 40% of the first-year students are from outside the Netherlands.

Great Career opportunities

The economy of the Netherlands will be the 15th largest in the world in 2022. The Netherlands has a prosperous and open economy,  which depends heavily on foreign trade. Some of the giant multinationals are Dutch, and loads of tech companies have their European headquarters in the Netherlands, and Eindhoven is becoming the number 2 tech hub in the world.

The Dutch government wants to attract knowledge and retain talent. International graduates can therefore apply for an orientation year. This is a residence permit of one year to find a job or start a business within three years of graduation.
